Interstitial
A full-screen ad shown at a natural break in a mobile game or app, a high-impact in-app format used for install campaigns.
Interstitials take the whole screen at a transition point (level end, session start), so they command attention without the opt-in of rewarded video. That impact cuts both ways: strong for a clear hook, wasteful if the first frame does not land, because there is no reward keeping the user there.
In iGaming the interstitial has to earn the tap in its first second, so buyers front-load the big-win or bonus moment. The pitfall is treating interstitials like rewarded inventory and expecting the same completion behavior, then reading the drop-off as a targeting problem.
In buyer speech
“Interstitials worked once we front-loaded the jackpot frame; the slow-build cuts just got dismissed.”
