Ban Wave

A short period when a platform restricts many ad accounts, Business Managers or profiles at once, usually after an enforcement change rather than anything a single account did.

A ban wave is a stretch of days when a platform restricts many ad accounts, Business Managers or profiles at once, across teams that have nothing in common except the platform. It usually follows a change on the platform's side: a new enforcement rule, a crackdown on payment methods or domains, a model update in review. Our July 2026 Facebook digest, for example, covered a wave of Business Manager bans.

The practical skill is telling a wave from your own problem. If other teams lose assets the same night, it is a wave; if only your accounts fall, look at your setup. During a wave, appeals are slow and relaunching everything at once feeds more assets into the same filter. Teams that survive waves spread risk in advance: several Business Managers, separate payment methods and domains, and a log of what was hit and when.

In buyer speech

“It's a wave, not us: three other teams lost their BMs the same night. Hold new launches until the weekend.”
