Spend
Advertising spend — the total amount put into paid media for a campaign.
Spend is the total amount of money put into paid media for a campaign, account, or period — the top line of every buyer's cost math. Daily spend, account spend, and team spend are the units in which buying operations are sized, and every efficiency metric (CPA, ROI, ROAS) is calculated against it.
Spend is also a proxy for trust and capability: ad platforms grant higher limits to accounts with consistent billing history, which is why fresh accounts are warmed on small budgets before scaling. Buyers separate spend from results deliberately — 'we spent $10k on the test' is a statement of investment, not outcome. The discipline is controlling spend velocity: scaling spend faster than the account's trust level or the funnel's validated economics is how budgets vaporize.
In buyer speech
“Daily spend across the Meta accounts is at $8k now — hold it there until the Reg2Dep numbers from the new funnel confirm.”
