Bounce Rate
The percentage of sessions where a visitor leaves after viewing only one page.
Bounce rate is the percentage of sessions where a visitor leaves after viewing only one page, taking no further action — no click, no form interaction, no navigation deeper into the funnel. On a landing page it effectively measures how many paid clicks die on arrival, before the funnel gets any chance to convert them.
For buyers, a high bounce rate is a diagnostic arrow: it points to creative-lander mismatch, slow load times, broken mobile rendering, or a geo-language mismatch rather than an offer problem. Cheap traffic sources with heavy bot presence also inflate bounces. Before blaming the lander, segment by source and device — one bad zone can poison the average. On single-page landers, configure engagement events properly or the metric reads artificially high.
In buyer speech
“Bounce on mobile is 78% versus 41% on desktop for the same lander — something's broken in the mobile render, check it now.”
