Long-Tail Query
A long-tail search query with low search volume but high intent.
A long-tail query is a longer, more specific search phrase with low individual search volume but high intent — 'best crypto casino with instant withdrawals Canada' rather than just 'casino'. Individually each query brings little traffic, but collectively long-tail terms account for a large share of total search demand, and their specificity means the searcher usually knows exactly what they want and is close to acting.
For affiliates, long-tail queries are where SEO and paid search economics actually work: head terms like 'online casino' are brutally competitive and expensive, while long-tail pages rank faster and convert better because intent is pre-qualified. The pitfall is chasing tails with zero volume or building hundreds of thin doorway pages that get deindexed. Cluster related long-tail queries onto one strong page instead of fragmenting them across many weak ones.
In buyer speech
“The head keyword is hopeless, but our long-tail pages for 'no deposit bonus' variations are pulling FTDs at half the usual cost.”
