Cashback

A cash rebate returned to a customer on a purchase.

Cashback is a rebate returned to a customer as a percentage of their purchase or, in iGaming, of their losses over a period. It functions as both a loyalty mechanic and an acquisition hook: card programs use it to drive card usage, casinos use it to soften losing sessions and extend player lifetime, and cashback services build entire affiliate businesses around sharing their commission with shoppers.

For buyers, cashback shows up in two roles. As an angle, 'X% cashback on losses' is a workhorse hook in casino creatives — but only promise what the offer's terms actually state, or moderation and the advertiser will both come after you. As a business model, cashback-driven traffic converts well but attracts bonus hunters whose LTV is thin, which advertisers eventually price into your deal.

In buyer speech

The weekly cashback angle is out-converting the free-spins creative two to one in that GEO — rotating more budget into it.
